Mansion dubbed Brighton Town Hall for sale
The imposing four storey mansion dubbed Brighton Town Hall by locals is for sale again.
Goldman Sachs co-head of Investment Banking, Australia, Nick Sims, and his wife, Georgina, are expecting $20-$22 million for Kinane at 2 Kinane Street, at the south east corner of the Esplanade.
The pair paid c$16.5m in mid-2020, as the country was in lockdown.
That seller was Violetta Esposito, the wife of National Dairy Products executive, Tony, who outlaid $14.6m in 2013.
Business identity Russell Small and his wife, Belinda Ding, owned it before that – setting a suburb record of $11.2m to pick it up from Max Beck in 2007.
Next chapter for Kinane
Developed in 1988 by Mr Beck, Kinane contains nine living and dining spaces – including the enormous ‘Kinane Room’, off the entrance, with a double height ceiling – eight bathrooms, six bedrooms, a library, cinema and wine cellar able to store 1200 bottles.
Each floor captures water and city skyline views.
The property is opposite Dendy Beach with the suburb’s famous bathing boxes.
There is also an eight bay basement car park.
The 3200 square metre site contains two pools and a tennis court.
Mr Beck sold it to Mr Small and Ms Ding.
Buxton’s Victoria Gregory and Stefan Whiting with Forbes’ Robert Fletcher and Tracy Belcher are representing the Sims, closing an expressions of interest campaign next month.
The property comes with designs for a Matyas Architects and Interiors redesign.
