Local developer secures another Barwon River site
Local developer Cam Hamilton has picked up another historic factory on the banks of the Barwon River in Newtown.
The c1922 The Mill complex at 403 Pakington Street cost $32.5 million.

Despite plans for a residential based mixed-use redevelopment with 10 towers, the tallest rising seven storeys, the executive’s Hamilton Group is expected to deliver a commercial conversion.
The 2.94 hectare parcel neighbours wool stores the company owns (400 Pakington St).
It is also near the c1869 Allied Woollen Mills at 512-560 Latrobe Boulevard in the suburb Mr Hamilton bought in mid-2023.
Like 400 Pakington St, those properties are waterfront with historic improvements.
They are also earmarked for commercial based mixed-use redevelopments.
Permitted plan
Vendor of the Pakington St asset, Mill Properties, gained approval for 314 apartments in 10 major buildings, up to seven levels, and 29 townhouses.
A 150-place childcare centre, offices, retail, 741 car parks and 399 bike bays also form part of the design.
Cushman & Wakefield agents Oliver Hay, Hamish Burgess, Joe Kairouz and Leon Ma said the property is at the prestigious Chilwell end of Pakington St.
The Mill factory ceased operating in the 1970s.
