Landmark Blair Athol, Brighton, up For Sale

Former Tabcorp and Southcorp chief executive officer Ross Wilson will sell his landmark Brighton mansion, Blair Athol.

The imposing Victorian mansion on a 3,358 square metre block at the end of Leslie Grove, is expected to fetch more than $8 million, and be one of the most expensive homes to sell in Brighton this year.

Mr Wilson paid $2.95 million for Blair Athol in 1994, soon after relocating to Melbourne from Adelaide. The Brighton home was offloaded by former Just Jeans boss Craig Kimberley.

Mr Wilson describes Blair Athol as a marvellous place to come home to. But he said now the kids have moved out, the 6-bedroom house is simply too big for he and his wife. The empty nesters will move to a smaller home in the bayside area.

The Blair Athol estate includes an established Edna Walling designed garden, pool, spa and tennis court. An original carriage and stables building has been renovated into an entertainment area and guest house.

Kay & Burton director Gerald Delany is marketing Blair Athol at 5 Leslie Grove. An Expression of Interest campaign closes on November 25.
