Private schools trade historic campus
The historic Bostock House has traded between two of Geelong’s best-known private schools.
Geelong College is believed to be paying close to $6 million for the 4109 square metre holding at 139 Noble Street, Newtown – opposite its senior campus.
The school is also speculated to be behind the purchase of the Manon estate at 141 Noble St – on 2456 sqm abutting the Bostock House west boundary.
With a c1905 heritage home, that property hit the market last March with $5m-$5.5m price hopes.
The guide was reduced this year to $3.6m-$3.9m.
It sold in May but hasn’t settled.
Records show Manon previously traded in 2022 for $4.75m.
Likely buyer
Geelong College has long been viewed as the logical buyer for Bostock House.
In 2017 it paid $3.85m for a 2766 sqm parcel next door to the east, at the corner of Stinton Avenue (continues below).
Last May it outlaid $1.9m for a 744 sqm lot behind that.

Geelong Grammar sells site
Built in 1916 as a private residence for Geelong mayor Edward Gurr, Bostock House later operated as St Andrew’s before becoming Geelong Grammar’s primary campus in 1997.
The school vacated earlier this year after completing a new junior college at Corio.
The deal comes six months since realestatesource.com.au reported Penleigh & Essendon Grammar outlaid nearly $10m for two dwellings, at the west and south boundary of its Junior Girl’s campus, in Moonee Ponds.
One home, Rosina, on ritzy Ardmillan Road, which set it back $7.1m, was years ago used in the Nine television show Underbelly.
