Government uniform maker leases modern Melbourne facility
Canadian-owned Australian Defence Apparel has leased a major office/warehouse within a business park replacing an ex-Woolworths distribution centre in Melbourne.
The company will replace Holman Industries at 2A William Barak Boulevard, Broadmeadows.
The 10,083 square metre complex is held by ESR, which took control of the estate following its acquisition of ARA Asset Management, including LOGOS, in 2022.
The Broadmeadows Logistics Estate, as it is now known, was kicked off by LOGOS and Ivanhoé Cambridge which bought the 25-hectare site from Growthpoint for $50.2 million in 2020, shortly after the country entered a lockdown for COVID.
Tenants to since move in to new buildings include ACL, Allied Express, GPC Asia Pacific and Reliance Worldwide, the latter in a 17,345 square metre space.
Holman, which leased 2A William Barak Blvd before it hit the leasing market, occupies another building at the business park.
Another ex-ADA HQ for sale
The defence and emergency-services clothing supplier will relocate from 1 Equator Road, Thomastown.
With 3457 sqm including a three-level office, and 52 car parks, that property is now for sale.
The Broadmeadows deal was brokered by Colliers’ Charlie Woodley, Corey Vraca, Mitch Purcell and Brad Crouch with Honos Property’s Antony Ludeman.

The Broadmeadows Logistics Estate is expected to contain 130,000 sqm.
The Woolworths distribution centre, purpose-built in 1999 and commonly known as being on Northcorp Blvd, spanned 60,044 sqm.
ADA upsizes in north
ADA traces back to the Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory, established in 1912 to supply uniforms for the Australian defence force.
It was rebranded in 1995 after the privatisation of the government clothing brand, expanding into New Zealand, manufacturing body armour, combat apparel and uniforms for defence, emergency services, healthcare professionals and the police.
The owner is Canada-based Logistik Unicorp.
Coincidentally the Coburg North ADA occupied for decades, spanning 2.6ha on Gaffney St, near the corner of Sydney Rd, is for sale.
Ryman is that seller; the NZ-based aged care giant paid $48.2m in 2022 with plans for a $350m multi-level facility.
Broadmeadows is about 15 kilometres north of the CBD.
