Glamorous Collingwood church conversion could sell for more than $6m

A Collingwood church marketed to commercial users or residential renovators five years ago – has been converted into one of Melbourne inner city’s most spectacular homes, and reoffered for between $5.8 million and $6.38 million – a price which, if achieved, is thought would set a suburban price record.

The Courtyard House, as it is now known, is the work of owner-architect Ilana Kister.

The bluestone church and an adjoining low rise building on the 720 square metre site have been refitted into a dramatic domain with numerous living and dining areas, four bedrooms, a study, 17-metre pool and rooftop garden. High end appointments include curvilinear timber walls and waxed concrete floors.

Built in 1874, the ex-St Saviour’s church is at 6 Oxford Street, at the lower end of the grungy suburb, near the East Melbourne border and Powlett Reserve.

Nelson Alexander’s Arch Staver and Rick Daniel are marketing the “gothic meets neo-modernist” property.
