Genesis opens Emporium showroom

Hyundai-owned luxury car make, Genesis, yesterday opened a 390 square metre showroom within Vicinity Centre’s Emporium Melbourne.

The Korean manufacturer has signed a long-term lease for the ground floor former Nespresso tenancy, opposite the Lonsdale Street entrance.

A car was sold in the first hours of trade, the landlord said.

Genesis operates another dealership – its maiden Australian outlet, opened in 2018 – within a Pitt Street, Sydney, shopping centre.

In February, Eagers Automotive committed to a multi-level, 2400 sqm space – incorporating a showroom and service centre – at Brisbane’s Indooroopilly Shopping Centre (story continues below).

Emporium Melbourne was developed within a building occupied between 1920-2009 by Myer.

Yesterday we reported a 66.67pc interest in that retailer’s Bourke St Mall store – which Vicinity owns the balance of – was selling to Abacus Property Group and Charter Hall.
