Gaynor Wheatley lists Melbourne townhouse ahead of interstate move

Glenn and Gaynor Wheatley paid $970,000 for 1 Walnut Street in 2009.

Actress Gaynor Wheatley, also known as Gaynor Martin, is selling a contemporary townhouse in Melbourne’s inner east Cremorne ahead of a move to Sydney.

The Cremorne terrace is expected to sell for c$1.85 million.

The ex-Sons and Daughters star can expect c$1.85 million for 1 Walnut Street which goes to auction Saturday fortnight.

Ms Wheatley with late husband Glenn Wheatley outlaid $970,000 in 2009.

In a show of how fast values have moved in the trendy pocket, dubbed Silicon Valley for its concentration of creative and IT companies, that seller paid $460,000 in 2000.

Biggin & Scott’s Edward Hobbs and Phoebe Hnarakis with Andrew Baines & Co’s Andrew Baines have the listing.

It might seem a bit like history repeating for the vendor, which in 2009, with Glenn, sold a Spanish Mission family home in South Yarra’s Avoca St ahead of moving part-time to Sydney (story continues below).

The pair banked an impressive capital gain from that deal, as is expected at 1 Walnut St – selling for $7m after paying $2m in 1998.

Mr Wheatley, who died last February, aged 74, was a bass guitarist for The Masters Apprentices before taking on management and representing, amongst others, Delta Goodrem, John Farnham and the Little River Band.

Ms Wheatley also appeared in Holiday Island and Skyways.

Cremorne, which shares the same postcode as Richmond, is about three kilometres from the CBD.
