Ex-Cats coach scores windfall from home sale

The Newtown house sold for $2.105 million before auction.

Shaun Grigg has sold his renovated Newtown family home before auction.

The Grant Street dwelling before it was renovated and extended.

The recently retired Cats assistant coach and his wife, Sarah, banked $2.105 million for 25 Grant Street – a result near the top of the ($1.95-$2.14m) guide.

It is a major windfall for the pair which outlaid $1.425m four years ago, shortly after it had been extended and refurbished.

Mr Grigg will move to the Gold Coast after taking up the assistant coach role with the Suns, working alongside former coach, Damien Hardwick, who was appointed coach in August.

25 Grant Street

On 677 square metres near the Barwon River, 25 Grant St contains five bedrooms, two lounges, a theatre and rumpus room (story continues below).

There is also carport, garage and pool.

Buxton’s Ben Riddle and Max Hardwick represented Mr Grigg, part of Richmond’s 2017 premiership team, and his wife.

Last week we reported another ex-AFL player, Chris Grant, offloaded his waterfront Williamstown home – setting a record for the suburb.
