Dexus secures Bapcor to Kaufland HQ

Australia’s largest distribution centre – commissioned by Kaufland – was completed this month.

Dexus has secured Bapcor to the Mount Waverley office recently vacated by Kaufland.

The incoming occupier, known as Burson Group until five years ago, will rent 7218 square metres at 327 Ferntree Gully Road, for an initial five years.

The deal includes a 2111 sqm renovated ground floor space and 350 car parks.

It is believed to be costing c$325 per sqm, ex-incentives.

CBRE’s Gianni Macdonald was the agent.

Axxess Business Park

Kaufland leased about 6600 sqm at Axxess Business Park in 2018 (story continues below).

Part of its area had just been renovated and fit out with workstations when the group made the surprise decision to quit Australia without ever opening a store.

The German supermarket chain tried to sub-rent it 11 months ago, but instead the agreement timed out.

Its space could accommodate about 400 staff around breakout areas, and a training room off a boardroom.

Kaufland moved its national headquarters to Mount Waverley from South Melbourne.

It was set to relocate to owner-occupied offices, soon, at Oakleigh South.

Earlier this year Colliers sold nine assets for the group including the country’s biggest distribution centre, in Mickleham, which was completed this month.
