Developer drops $93.5m for Sunshine Coast farm

A division of Wises farm, approved in 2022.

It is the end of an era in Maroochydore with the bulk of an infill arm held by the Wise family selling to QM Property with plans for a housing estate.

The 35 hectare holding on Wises Road, abutting the Sunshine Motorway, in Buderim, collected $93.5 million.

Long time owner Peter Wise, who died early last year, 82, tried to sell it in 2022.

He also obtained a permit to replace with c570 dwellings or c800 units.

The Wise family will retain a homestead and coffee plantation on four hectares.

Site set for development

Mr Wise, an eighth generation farmer, bought the Buderim property in the 1960s for amongst other things, beans, potatoes, pumpkins and tomatoes.

In late 2007, the businessman sold a six hectare piece to aged care accommodation provider Living Choice.

In 2022, he said he received offers for the balance from developers “for decades”.

Buderim is about five kilometres south west of Maroochydore’s CBD.

Brisbane based QM Property was established in 1976 and is still run by Jon Haseler.
