Cherryvale Estate to be Sold, Mornington Peninsula

Cherryvale, a Tuscan-inspired villa on about 2.8 hectares in Red Hill South, was designed by architect Frank Flannery. The estate has manicured gardens, a cherry orchard, a lake stocked with rainbow trout, a rotunda and an organic fruit, herb and vegetable garden. It has bay views to Western Port, Phillip Island, French Island and the Gippsland Hills.

The substantial house has towering cathedral ceilings, an atrium leading to a fountain and rainforest plants, two chimneys that form a decorative "bell tower" rising above the roof, and big windows. A gourmet kitchen, living areas, library and master bedroom with a spa under a glass atrium ceiling round off the package.

Mrs Willis’ Italian background influenced the Tuscan style.

An adjoining 0.6-hectare vacant land parcel on a separate title will be sold later. It also has bay views, an orchard and a big oak tree.

Kay & Burton Flinders sales executive Prue McLaughlin is marketing the property, at 233 Red Hill Road, which goes to auction at noon on Sunday, April 15, and is expected to sell for more than $4 million. The vacant lot is expected to sell for more than $700,000.
