Catalano Interiors leases inner-city showroom

The Fairfield property will be Catalano Interiors’ sixth local showroom.

Catalano Interiors has rented its sixth Melbourne showroom.

The single-storey property at 160 Fulham Road, Fairfield, will also dub as the company’s office headquarters.

The total area is 5600 square metres.

Catalano has signed for an initial six years paying starting rent near $80 per sqm, per annum.

The space was formerly occupied by Melbourne Mailing which relocated to a larger warehouse in Freight Rd, Somerton.

NSL Property Group director Guy Naselli said the Fairfield deal is one of the biggest struck in the city fringe since COVID.

The property’s location and high clearance, he added, made it an “ideal fit” for the furniture retailer, which also trades at Coburg North, Essendon Fields, Nunawading, Preston and Springvale (story continues below).

HRB & Co’s Heath Bedford, who acted for the tenant, added “we were able to secure the right premises that worked for us on all aspects after reviewing the available stock on the market” and the property “will provide the solid base required for my clients to move forward and execute their future growth strategy”.

The business was established by Francesco Catalano in the 1950s from a workshop behind his Coburg home.

Its first retail store opened in the suburb’s Bell Street some 20 years later.

Fairfield is about six kilometres north east of Melbourne.

Fulham Rd is near a distribution centre Cotton On sold with a leaseback in 2019.
