Blackstone finally moves One Barangaroo penthouse

The One Barangaroo penthouse spreads 849 square metres over two floors.

Blackstone is understood to be selling the One Barangaroo Crown Residences penthouse inherited with its $8.9 billion buy-out of Crown Resorts in 2022.

The apartment was asking $100 million when it hit the market in 2021.

The US-based private investment manager is accepting a major discount – less than $80 million, according to sources.

It revamped a marketing campaign last August, furnishing the two level, 849 square metre six bedroom apartment on the 81st and 82nd levels, and discounting the price to $90m.

Crown Resorts had been seeking $100m since 2021, when the building was complete.

The incoming buyer is believed to be local with settlement scheduled this financial year.

Also with eight bathrooms, a gym, cinema and several balconies, one with a pool, the penthouse – 81.01/1A Barangaroo Ave – has several dramatic living and dining spaces capturing postcard Opera House, Harbour Bridge and city skyline views.

Colliers’ Luke Hayes with The Agency’s Steven Chen were the marketing agents.

The price is expected to just surpass the $73m paid by James Packer for levels 48 and 49 at One Barangaroo, agreed during an off-the-plan campaign in 2017.

The Packer family banked c$3.3b from the Crown Resorts sale.

Mr Packer has since diversified into several fields including real estate development.
