Biggest IKEA in Southern Hemisphere Planned For Former Sydney Rubbish Tip

The store would be the biggest IKEA in the southern hemisphere, and be built on a former rubbish tip on the Princes Highway. Construction will start later in the year, the Australian Financial Review reports, and is due for completion in late 2011.

IKEA country manager David Hood said the Swedish furniture retailer plans to open two more stores in Sydney, "but success depends on having enough parking." The new Tempe store will have parking for 2000 cars.
