BHP’s Plans to Move its Headquarters to Perth Delayed

But now it looks like BHP has filled its existing Perth office space, and 65,000 square metres it has committed to at City Square. In Melbourne BHP recently moved to a new office at QV, leaving its long time home at 600 Bourke Street where it also had naming rights.

BHP is not looking to offload either its Perth or Melbourne space, according to leasing agents.

A BHP spokeswoman told the AFR it planned to move all Perth based staff into City Square in 2012. It has denied any rumours it plans to move west.

It’s been reported sources inside BHP say any interstate relocation is on hold until after its chief executive Marius Kloppers departs.

Sources suggest a proposed tower opposite City Square, which is in the early planning stage, could be BHP’s new HQ. Brookfield Office Properties is developing that site.
