Prominent Bathurst hotel fetches $25m

Husband and wife publicans Peter and Jane Harris and Gary and Kerry Narvo have quietly snapped up the prominent Panorama Motel Bathurst.
The 1.2 hectare property at the T-intersection of Durham and Bentnick streets, abutting Bathurst Showgrounds, was offered by another husband and wife, Angus and Kati Gibbons, who have operated since 2014.
The disposal price is speculated to be around $25 million.
Updates are planned – to both the accommodation, with 70 suites – and hospitality components, with a bistro and bar, drive-thru coffee shop and gaming room with TAB facilities and 12 electronic gambling machines.
The site also includes a pool and nearly 90 car parks including one allocated to each of the motel rooms.
JLL’s Kate Macdonald was the agent.
The deal comes nearly 25 years since the Harris and Narvo Hotels partnership was formed, with the purchase of the Bayview Hotel, at Woy Woy – an asset in 2021 sold to the Laundry family.
The Harris’ and Narvos also control the Lakes Hotel at The Entrance, Newcastle’s Hotel Jesmond and the Banjo Patterson Inn, at Jindabyne.
Late last year they were inducted into the Australian Hotel Association NSW’s hall of fame.
Mr Harris was also an AHA NSW council delegate for 30 years and an executive on it, for ten.
