Australian Gardener Wes Fleming Sells City Apartment

Wes Fleming, two time gold medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show, and partner, PR director Paige Lane, will move permanently to a property they own near Fleming’s nursery in Monbulk.

Fleming is the fourth-generation owner of Fleming Nurseries, Australia’s largest wholesaler of deciduous fruit and ornamental trees. He became a celebrity in 2005 when his garden entry, the first from an Australian team, won a gold medal at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show.

His entry last year incorporated a teppanyaki grill and bar. It was reported to have captivated Queen Elizabeth II, who spent an unusually long ten minutes in the garden when she visited the famous British event. That entry also went on to win a gold medal for Fleming and Australia.

The Guilford Lane home, near the Melbourne GPO, is spread over three and a half levels. It includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large open plan living area, massive warehouse north facing windows, spa bath and two car parks.

It is expected to sell for more than $690,000 when it goes to auction at 2pm, Saturday May 5th. Hocking Stuart’s Darren Portwine is selling the property with Adam Harrington.
