Altona North handling facility site sells for $21m

An Altona North site near the Princes Freeway/Western Ring Road junction has sold for over $21 million.

The 7.14 hectare parcel, 141-159 Dohertys Road, will make way for a handling facility after also being pre-committed to Victorian Container Management.

Colliers and Industry Property Group brokered the sale.

The property is presently occupied by Nightingale Superstore.

It is next to Myer’s 30,400 square metre distribution centre, on 11.6ha, which Lendlease’s Australian Prime Property Fund acquired for $38.15m in 2018 (story continues below).

To its other side is auction house Manheim.

Elsewhere in Melbourne’s west recently, Pelligra launched the second stage of its Infinity Industrial Estate at Ravenhall – replacing a 20.8ha site acquired for $25.3m in 2019.

That builder has also been speculated as a suitor to repurpose Altona North’s ex-Toyota factories; it has in recent years snapped up Ford and General Motors Holden parcels.

Cadence has also acquired sites including the former Spotswood Animal Quarantine Station and a former West Footscray factory. A Sunshine silo facility was also recently offloaded, by Graincorp.
