Airlie Police College tennis court approved for apartments

A disused tennis court, part of the Airlie Police College at the corner of Punt and Domain roads in South Yarra, will be developed into a four storey apartment building.

Melbourne City Council last month approved Neometro’s plan, for nine dwellings.

It would see Airlie Bank Lane, off Walsh Street, be the entrance.

The project has been branded Airlie Bank.

Airlie Police College property is held by the force, occupied as a training centre.

The government sold another part of the old school grounds to developers years ago.

Contacted following the Neometro decision, a spokeswoman said the college wasn’t intending to leave its heritage protected Domain Rd home, adding that a major refurbishment is currently underway.
