Rodeo turns visitors into property buyers: agent
The annual rodeo and campdraft are introducing prospective buyers to the Southern Downs, with some visitors returning to purchase rural property, according to a local agent.
Warwick’s annual rodeo and Gold Cup Campdraft attract about 30,000 visitors, according to Southern Downs, Raine & Horne Warwick principal Jodie Hughes said, bringing competitors, horses and spectators to the regional Queensland town.
The week-long event is running from October 19 to 25.
Lifestyle acreage around Warwick remains popular, she said, particularly among families seeking room for horses and recreational vehicles and farmers downsizing from larger holdings in western Queensland.
Properties spanning five to 80 acres generally sell for between $900,000 and $1.6 million, depending on their location, land area and improvements, according to the executive.
A recently sold property at Freestone fetched $2m while 201 Denmark Lane, Yangan, is being marketed for $1.499m.
That renovated 39-acre holding in the Swanfels Valley is being pitched at buyers seeking a rural retreat or a smaller property within reach of regional services (continues below).
Vacant residential land in Warwick, meanwhile, is attracting interest at prices of $250,000 to $350,000, Ms Hughes said.
One example is 88 Wood Street, Warwick, a medium-density residential site that attracted multiple offers.
The property could potentially accommodate three or four units, subject to planning and infrastructure requirements.
Warwick is about 85 kilometres south of Toowoomba and 155 kilometres south-west of Brisbane by road.
