Albany Rd mansion collects $18.5m from Jayco founder

Jayco Caravans managing director Gerry Ryan is paying c$18.5 million for a Toorak mansion with no tennis court.

The deal would have set a record price in Melbourne had it occurred a month ago.

The Albany Road home was was offered by Future Fund board member Jeffrey Browne and his wife Debbie, who are understood to be relocating to an apartment at St Kilda Road’s Melburnian.

Their outgoing Victorian-era dwelling has been renovated three times in the last 22 years (story continues below).

It occupies 2,415 square metres in the street considered Melbourne’s most exclusive.

The transaction comes a month after nearby Toorak estate Meigunyah on Orrong Rd – and 8800 sqm – traded for $20m.

That property only held the Melbourne record for a few days though, after Clinton Casey sold Hawthorn’s Avon Court for $21m.
