The 1929 apartment block formerly known as Belvedere, and beamed around the world in the defunct television series The Secret Life of Us, is for sale as a whole.

The 3-level, 13-unit apartment at the corner of Upper Esplanade and Robe Street, was one of two St Kilda apartment buildings featured predominantly throughout the show, which ran from 2001 to 2005.

Belvedere is most recognised for its rooftop terrace, where Secret Life’s financially struggling, confused and destructive 30 something characters contemplated their woes before million dollar views over Port Phillip Bay, Luna Park and the Palais Theatre.

Hocking Stuart expects 22 Upper Esplanade to sell to an investor or developer for between $4.6 million and $5 million. Selling agent John Holdsworth says the unrenovated, oversized apartments retain many original features including roman columns in the bathrooms, tall ceilings and ornate fireplaces.

The apartments currently earn $192,000 per annum in rent.

Last month, Biggin & Scott sold the unrenovated, 12-unit Inverleith apartment block at 14A Acland Street, also featured in Secret Life, for $4.95 million.
