A LANDMARK property on the suburb border of Newport and Williamstown is expected to smash the record price paid for a home in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
 
Hocking Stuart Williamstown’s Wayne Elly is expecting up to $8 million for the Sea Gates estate at 62 The Strand, which has rear access to Yarra Street.
 
The massive 3,500 square metre property includes two historic homes –  Sea Gates and the smaller Dachet – and enjoys postcard views over Hobsons Bay to the Melbourne CBD.

Clinton Casey’s Outgoing Avon Court Mansion, Hawthorn, Expected to Set New Price Record

Avon Court, HawthornFORMER Richmond Football club president Clinton Casey can expect to make about $16 million from the sale of his Avon Court mansion, in Melbourne’s ritzy eastern suburb of Hawthorn – setting a new price record for the suburb.

The 4,645 square metre estate includes a 4-storey historic and heritage protected mansion, swimming pool and tennis court.

Mr Casey paid $5.7 million for the property in 2003 before undertaking a major renovation.

FORMER AFL Premiership player Shannon Grant is selling an investment property at 180 Beach Road in Mordialloc.
 
The modest three-bedroom, single level home, on a 653 square metre block, is expected to sell at auction next month for around $1.250 million, according to Hocking Stuart Brighton selling agents Rod Richardson and Stuart Kelso who is auctioning the property at 3:30pm on November 28.

Rippon LeaAN 8,000 square metre slice of Elsternwick’s historic Rippon Lea estate, compulsorily acquired by the State Government in the 1950s for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation – is likely to be sold to residential developers, if the ABC vacates the property in 2012.
 
ABC project director Ray Moore told Secret Agent it is considering selling two Elsternwick properties, currently occupied as studios and offices, including a major complex on Gordon Street abutting Rippon Lea – built on what was once the property’s southern boundary.

THE entrepreneur nephew of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Patrick Handbury, is selling a Geelong waterfront mansion.
 
Mr Handbury is seeking $2.69 million for the 77-year old, 5-bedroom property at The Esplanade, in Drumcondra, at the suburb border where North Geelong meets Geelong.

Chinese Government Rumoured to be Behind $7 Million Toorak Mansion Buy

THE founder of online careers website Jobs Jobs Jobs, Guy Sigston, is understood to be close to selling his near-new French Provincial style Toorak mansion for about $7 million.
 
The 6-bedroom, 80 square Selborne Road home, which includes a 5-car underground garage, gymnasium, wine cellar and rooftop terrace with city views, was listed for sale in May.
 
Rumour doing the rounds in Toorak Village is that interests associated with the Chinese Government are the frontrunners to buy the property, but this could not be confirmed.

The 60-year old grandmother, who with husband Willie purchased her first Melbourne home in 2005, could reap as much as $7 million for the three-bedroom plus study home, on a 650 square metre block in ritzy Irving Road.

BUSINESSWOMAN, and BRW Rich 200 member, Iris Lustig-Moar has made about $4.75 million from the sale of an apartment shell, adjoining her own penthouse, on top of the luxurious Lucient building, at 430 St Kilda Road.
 
The co-director of architect and development firm Lustig & Moar, had originally planned to incorporate the apartment into her own, to create a super-penthouse some speculate could have had an end value of more than $12 million, and be one of the most expensive in the boulevard.

Ava Gardner & Frank SinatraTHE South Yarra motel at the centre of a saucy scandal involving Hollywood actress Ava Gardner, and crooner Frank Sinatra 50 years ago, is for sale.
 
Rooms within the St James Motel, at 35 Darling Street, accommodated Ms Gardner and a production crew during the 1959 filming of “On the Beach”, parts of which were shot in Berwick.
 
It was reported Frank Sinatra would often visit Ms Gardner during filming, despite the fact the couple divorced two years earlier.  Sinatra left his wife and three kids in 1951, to marry Gardner – who had already been married twice before.

INTERIOR designer David Hicks is understood to have paid more than $3 million for a luxury St Kilda Road apartment, built on what was once the site of a rundown office and shopping plaza.
 
Hicks, who was a judge on Channel Nine’s recent television show homeMade, is speculated to have purchased a 3-bedroom apartment at 401 St Kilda Road, a boutique complex developed by Pan Urban, the construction company of business identity and publisher of The Monthly, Morry Schwartz.

A NEW price record is believed to have been quietly set for the ritzy bayside suburb of Brighton.
 
Sources say an undisclosed Geelong-based business identity has agreed to pay about $15.5 million for a waterfront mansion at 25 – 27 Glyndon Road, in the suburb’s “Golden Mile”.
 
The 5-bedroom mansion has a 59-metre water frontage, and includes a tennis court, swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym, home theatre and rooftop entertainment area.

Ron Clarke’s Former Brighton Mansion Sold For $12 Million, Apartments Planned

THE FORMER Brighton home of Olympian-turned Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke is believed to have sold for about $12 million, and will be developed into apartments.
 
Boutique builder L & D O’Brien Holdings Pty Ltd has purchased the imposing but rundown 1 Bay Street mansion, which occupies a prominent waterfront position overlooking Port Phillip and the Middle Brighton Baths.

The home will be demolished to make way for a luxury apartment complex of at least six units, sources say. JP Dixon’s Jonathan Dixon is marketing the units but was unavailable for comment.
