Boutique Melbourne-based architect firm Plus Architecture is about to make its mark on the big apple, winning a contract to design a cultural centre in New York.

Plus was formed ten years ago as a joint venture between established Melbourne architectural firms SJB and Fender Katsolides. Its biggest local project includes MABCorp’s New Quay precinct at Docklands, which includes the boat-shaped Palladio building, Boyd, Arkley and Nolan buildings.

The New York contract, worth up to $US100 million, requires the Melbourne boys to design a new 15-storey building comprising a ballet school, student accommodation, library, museum and restauarant.
