Swinburne re-commits to Hawthorn’s 2 Luton Lane

Swinburne University has re-committed to 5660 square metres of a Hawthorn office at 2 Luton Lane (pictured, top).

The educator first leased this space in 2017 – three months prior to the last occupier, Programmed Maintenance, vacating.

At that time, Swinburne agreed to pay rent of about $380 per square metre, per annum, to sub-let the space from Skilled Engineering until 1 August, 2019.

The school has just formalised a new five year lease with the landlord paying $510 per square metre, per annum.

The agreement includes 182 car parks.

Gorman Commercial’s Stephen Gorman negotiated the latest agreement.

Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus is walking distance to 2 Luton Lane.

In April, we reported that the college was paying c$45 million for Invicta House at 226-232 Flinders Lane, in the Melbourne CBD, to occupy as a campus.
