Lleyton Hewitt sells Yve penthouse at a loss

Sunland’s distinctive and award winning Yve apartment complex.

Six years after it hit the market – and following a major discount – tennis ace Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, former actress, Bec Cartwright, have found a buyer for their vacant St Kilda Road penthouse – at $8.175 million.

The opulent six-bedroom pad, spreading the 19th and 20th level of the distinctive Yve complex at #576-578, was asking about $10m when it hit the market in June with a new selling agency.

Hewitt had offered the apartment on and off before then: in 2011 it carried price hopes of approximately $15m.

The value was adjusted the following year to $12 million.

In 2015 it was on the market seeking “offers of around $9 million”.

Hewitt outlaid $8.325 million off-the-plan in 2004 (it was originally two apartments which the tennis star redesigned to be one) then reportedly spent four years fitting it out (story continues below).

It is understood Hewitt bumped up the asking price this year after investing in a re-modelling.

The latest campaign to sell 1903 & 1904/576-578 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, was run by Whitefox agent Ryan Fisher.

The tennis star and Bec, with their young children, recently relocated to a new Melbourne house in Heyington Place, Toorak, which they bought off-the-plan for $12.7m from prestige builder Peter Johnston.

The pair also recently sold a Kenthurst, Sydney, home, reportedly for close to $5m, after less than two weeks on the market.
