Seddon Home of T. A Duckworth Founder to be Sold

Mr Duckworth built the three-bedroom home in the 1930s. It had a big carpentry workshop where he started his business before it relocated to Hyde Street, Yarraville. The workshop was later used as a bridal dressmaking factory employing more than 20 people at its peak in the 1950s.

Most recently, it has been the studio of artist Gabrielle Bates. Her recent show Guns n’ Brownies, which exhibited in Smith Street, sold out. This year, she heads to Malaysia’s contemporary art cultural centre Rimbun Dahan.

Jas H Stephen’s Yarraville sales executive Greg Carruthers expects a price of more than $530,000 when the house goes to auction at noon on Saturday, April 21.
