Cricket player-turned-commentator Ricky Ponting and his wife, Rianna (pictured, top), have paid $3.5 million for a contemporary residence on Point Nepean Road, walking distance to the Portsea Hotel.
Also close to the Portsea Golf Club and Point Nepean National Park, the four bedroom home overlooks a self-cleaning pool, spa, alfresco deck with an inbuilt barbecue, in-ground trampoline and basketball practice area.
Set into a corner of a 1068 square metre, rectangle-shaped block, the dwelling’s oversized front yard, configured with rolling lawn, could dub as a small cricket pitch.
The home was marketed for private sale with a price guide of between $3.5 million and $3.8 million, and sold in January.
Australia’s 42nd Test Captain, including during the 2004-2012 “golden era”, Ricky Ponting has since February held the position as the Assistant Coach of the Australian national men’s cricket team.
A run maker, Ponting is regarded as “the most uncompromising player of his generation”, according to this ESPN item – and one of the best batsmen of all time.
In 2013, the couple, who manage charitable organisation Ponting Foundation, spent close to $10 million on an Edwardian family home in St Ninians Road, Brighton, shortly after moving to Melbourne from Sydney.
The historic Brighton home, known as the Shandford Estate, includes a pool, tennis court and private laneway access to the beach.
