Repurpose of ex-Balmain Leagues Club closer

The Rozelle complex should be complete in three years.

A residential-based mixed-use redevelopment of the former Balmain Leagues Club is a step closer – the $800 million project today winning State Significant Development Application (SSDA) approval.

Retail and 260 apartments are planned for the ex-Balmain Leagues Club site.

Rozelle Village, as the developer, PERIFA, backed by Mitsubishi Real Estate Asia, has branded it, will contain 227 apartments, a mix of one, two and three bedrooms – 59 allocated for affordable housing – in a 16 level tower.

Retail, some in a laneway, hospitality and public spaces, including a piazza, is also planned for the project, penned by Studio SC, with interiors by SJB and landscaping by Arcadia.

“Demolition works at the 7330 sqm site will be completed this month,” a spokesperson for the the developers said.

“Ground works are commencing imminently and main building works are expected to commence in the third quarter,” they added.

“Completion is anticipated in 2028”.

Rozelle is four kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD.
