NSW government releases six more lots for developers

The state government will release six more sites to residential developers – part of the $6.6 billion Building Homes for NSW program.

On the Central Coast, two parcels at Gosford and one at Hamlyn Terrace – all up with the capacity to deliver 160 dwellings – will be sold.

Another block at Warabrook, about nine kilometres north west of Newcastle, will also be offered. About 35 dwellings could be constructed here.

Meanwhile in Sydney, two smaller parcels, at Blacktown and Castle Hill, will also be put to the private sector. These lots should yield a total 25 homes.

Target: 30,000

Buildings Homes for NSW aims to deliver 30,000 dwellings by 2028 (story continues below).

Land has been found for some 8100 of them.

“The NSW government has been clear from day one, we need to address the housing crisis and we need to do it with a whole-of-government approach,” minister for Lands and Property, Steve Kamper, said.

Property and Development NSW chief executive officer, Leon Walker, added “the property audit has been instrumental in providing a framework for the NSW government, with Property and Development NSW leading the way to identify and assess surplus government-owned land that is capable of delivering new housing solutions across the state”.
