New Bendigo childcare centre sells
A childcare centre built on land until COVID earmarked for an apartment complex, south west of Bendigo, has sold.
The Discovery Bay Early Learning and Kindergarten at 110 Panton Street, Golden Square, collected $6.465 million.
Opened mid-last year, with 120 places, it is one of the only local schools of its type to utilise Montessori and STEM education programs.
The tenant is subject to a 10 year initial lease.
With options it can stay until 2054.
The complex replaced a project, The Beaufort, which would have contained 26 apartments over three floors.

On 3259 square metres also exposed to High St, the childcare centre spreads 1136 sqm, with 27 car parks.
“This childcare facility is truly one-of-a-kind, meeting all the criteria families seek in early education,” CBRE’s Sandro Peluso, who brokered the deal with Marcello Caspani-Muto and Jimmy Tat, said.
“A standout feature is the indoor water play area, which aligns with the current emphasis on sensory play in early childhood development,” he added.
“The scarcity of high-quality competing services within a five km radius, with most centres averaging 10 years in age, and the presence of nine schools within a three km radius further enhanced the property’s appeal,” according to the executive.
Mr Tat said demand for regional childcare has increased as many families opt for regional areas like Bendigo, over Melbourne.
The new owner will also be able to claim depreciation benefits for tax.
Golden Square is about two kilometres from Bendigo’s CBD.
