Brighton home sells for record $15.5m
A suburb price record is believed to have been quietly set at Melbourne’s ritzy bayside Brighton.
Sources say an undisclosed Geelong-based business identity has agreed to pay about $15.5 million for a waterfront mansion at 25 – 27 Glyndon Road, in the suburb’s golden mile.
The five-bedroom mansion has 59-metres of frontage to the water and includes a tennis court, swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym, home theatre and rooftop entertainment area.
JP Dixon marketed the property, but an agent was unavailable to confirm the speculation when contacted.
The previous record price for a Brighton home was set twice in 2006, when Becton chief Max Beck’s 2 Kinane Street and ex St Kilda president Rod Butterss 39 Seacombe Grove both traded for between $11.2m and $11.5m.
Coincidentally, the Barnard Road Toorak house offloaded by solicitor John O’Halloran when he smashed Brighton’s record buying 39 Seacombe Grove, has come back on the market for sale.
Mr O’Halloran sold 8 Barnard Road to socialite Rose Porteous for $6.1m in late 2006, who on-sold it seven months later for $7m.
Kay & Burton’s Jason Scillio is expecting the four bedroom home to sell for about $8.75m this time around.
