Nespresso returns to Pitt Street Mall

Seven years after quitting the Pitt Street Mall for George Street – Nespresso is coming back.

The coffee retailer will open next quarter on the ground floor at the historic Australian Fire Insurance Society head office, 142-144 Pitt St (Google Street View image, top).

The space was for decades since the 1970s occupied by Grahame Book Company, later known as Grahame Publishing Group, giving the intersection the name Grahame’s Corner.

More recently it was occupied by Country Road which recently announced before tax losses of c$164 million for the last financial, quadruple a $46 million loss in the 2023/2024 year.

Actually at the corner of King St, 142-144 Pitt is at the top of the mall, opposite outlets for Polo Ralph Lauren, Chaumet and Tiffany’s.

Nespresso’s outgoing store – 345 George St – will close September 22.

That property has been owned since 2006 by ISPT.
