Frasers Property Australia chief executive officer Rod Fehring has chaired the GBCA for two years.

Mirvac chief executive officer and managing director Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz (pictured, top) will take over from Rod Fehring as the Green Building Council of Australia chair.

Mr Fehring, Frasers Property Australia’s chief executive officer, held the GBCA position for two years.

The appointment comes five years after Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz joined the GBCA board.

“The GBCA has played a critical role collaborating with industry to improve sustainability across many areas of Australia’s built environment,” Ms Llloyd-Hurwitz said. “Now our challenge is to extend these benefits to other sectors of the property industry, including home and social infrastructure, so more people can live the benefits of greener properties”.

“We will also continue our focus on net zero carbon buildings and expanding the net zero goal across the country”.

The Green Star rating system is also expected to be transformed to meet more sophisticated demands.

Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz, who had previously committed Mirvac to being net positive carbon by 2030, recently completed a two year term as Property Council of Australia president.
