“Victoria is the residential auction capital of Australia so I have high hopes for John as he competes tobecome the best auctioneer in Australia and New Zealand.
Each year the REIV conducts a competition to find the best junior and senior auctioneer in Victoria. The purpose of this competition is twofold, it helps agents to develop and improve their skills andsecondly allows the industry to highlight the skills needed to conduct a successful auction and achievethe highest return for the vendor.
“Entrants are judged on their understanding of the laws and regulations that relate to propertytransactions along with their ability to professionally run the auction and present the property.
“The entrants are tested and judged by some of our most experienced auctioneers in Victoria, theyreally do try their hardest to complicate the process by offering odd numbered bids, offering less thanthe bid at the time or even trying to confuse the process.
“This results in an enormously entertaining event.
“If anyone wants to see John in action, his next auction will be 14 July, 11am at 41a Mascoma St, Strathmore.
This year’s finalists were Brad Airs of Nelson Alexander Ascot Vale, John Matthews or Barry Plant Essendon, Andrew Morello of G A Thomson & Co (Essendon) Pty Ltd Flemington and Matthew Young, Jas H Stephens Yarraville.
