Greater Geelong farm fetches $40m
A 563 hectare landholding on Greater Geelong’s urban fringe has sold for $40 million, along with neighbouring properties connected to electricity infrastructure, suggesting a data centre development could be afoot.
The Anakie property at 975 Bacchus Marsh Road comprises five contiguous titles and is zoned Farming – though it is near the Lara West and Lovely Banks precinct plan areas.
It has 2.6 kilometres of street frontage, opposite HM Barwon Prison and the Marngoneet Correctional Centre.
The deal was agreed last November. Settlement occurred eight months ago. The buyer is an offshore group.
Several properties abutting the property traded at the same time including the 64ha 300 Hams Lane, for $5.3m, and 1280 Ballan Rd, for nearly $1m. Those properties have power lines running through them – appropriate for data centre development (continues below).
The Anakie Solar-Plus-Storage Project is also in the vicinity.
LAWD’s Peter Sagar and Paul Callanan marketed 975 Bacchus Marsh Rd.
Anakie is about 30 kilometres north of Geelong.
