Goodman Group snares BMW for 70,000 sqm within Tokyo warehouse
BMW Group has pre-leased most of a four-storey logistics factory to be developed by Goodman Group in Tokyo.
BMW’s regional distribution centre will occupy more than 70,000 square metres at Goodman Business Park Stage 4 – a 100,000 sqm facility in Chiba , due for completion in October 2020.
BMW has outgrown its current space in the region.
Goodman Japan CEO Angus Brooks said “our team has been working closely with BMW to tailor the facility to its requirements, integrate the latest sustainability and technology features, and create an environment that will help BMW attract and retain the best workforce for its customers”.
Mr Paul Garry, head of Asia for Goodman, added “BMW has been a long-standing Goodman customer around the world, with partnerships together in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and China. Our expertise in the automotive sector has been recognised by BMW and we are thrilled to be expanding our global partnership with BMW into Japan.
The master-planned Goodman Business Park spans a site of more than 500,000 square metres.
It currently includes three logistics facilities.
“The precinct also offers an unparalleled level of service, making it an attractive place to visit and in which to work,” Goodman said of the business park, in this statement. “Services include a cafeteria and terrace in each building, a convenience store, post and parcel delivery, ATM and a driver rest area that includes showers and a lounge”.
A dedicated bus service, share bicycles and centralised parking are other features of the complex, which is near to train stations. Goodman has also recently started construction of an on-site childcare centre, gym and medical centre.
