Ginger Recording Studios’ Cremorne base sold for $2.8 million

The outgoing Cremorne base of Ginger Recording Studios sold to an owner occupier with other property assets in the area at auction yesterday.

The single-storey brick building on a 267 square metre site at 7-11 Jessie Street traded for $2.795 million.

It was at this studio Justin Bieber recorded in 2017 whilst in Melbourne for his Purpose World Tour.

Other international performers to use the space include Wu-Tang Clan, Skrillex and Jason Derulo.

Local stars including Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins and Flume have also been Ginger Recording Studio clients.

The space is often used to record voiceovers for television ads.

The parcel was marketed by Teska Carson’s Luke Bisset and Matt Feld as an investment or development play.

On a Commercial 2 zoned block, the site is at the top end of Cremorne, near Swan Street and the Richmond train station, about three kilometres east of the Melbourne CBD.

The property was offloaded by the occupiers with a six month leaseback.

Ginger Recording Studios’ director Jimi Wyatt is building a new space for the business in Northcote.

The Wyatt family paid $1.112 million for 7-11 Jessie Street in 2011 before investing in the current contemporary fit-out.
