Eureka Tower Wins Australian Property Institute Award

The 91-level, 300-metre skyscraper, which took five years to build, won the Property Development Award, defeating R.Corp’s Botanicca Corporate Park in Richmond.

Private investor the Kador Group’s refurbishment of a thirsty B-grade office building at 500 Collins Street, to a 5-star Australian Building Greenhouse Rated tower, saw it pick up the Environmental Development Award.

The Green Building Council of Australia won the Property Industry Award for its Green Star Rating System, while CB Richard Ellis valuer Stephen Thomas won the young achiever of the year award.

Meanwhile at another award night, North Melbourne-based valuation firm WPB Property Group beat over 20 other Victorian company finalists to pick up the 2007 Telstra Victorian Business of the Year. WPB will now compete with seven other state winners for Telstra’s Australian Business of the Year award, to be held later this month.
