Doncaster and Doncaster East Suburb Profile

Travelling to the inner city suburbs of Collingwood and Richmond can take less than ten minutes.

Doncaster and Doncaster East are bound by Box Hill and Blackburn North to the south, Donvale and Warrandyte to the east, Templestowe and Templestowe Lower to the north and Bulleen and Balwyn North to the west.

It is home to the Westfield Doncaster shopping centre, which is hub to one of the more sophisticated bus networks in metropolitan Melbourne.

Trams and trains do not make it to Doncaster.

According to the REIV, Doncaster’s median house price for the year ended December 31, 2007, is $607,500, up 26 per cent since last year.

Values in Doncaster East over the same period increased 22.1 per cent to $565,000.

By comparison, median values increased 12.6 per cent for homes in metropolitan Melbourne, to $425,000.

The REIV annualised median figures are considered more statistically reliable than the quarterly figures released throughout the year, because they include a much greater sample of sold properties.
