Actress, director, producer and script writer Claudia Karvan with partner Jeremy Sparks, a successful engineer, can expect some $2.7 million from the sale of their former home, a four-storey warehouse apartment (pictured left and bottom) in Sydney’s inner-south suburb of Redfern.
The property – within a former clothing factory which Mr Sparks converted into five dwellings in 2004, goes to auction in November, according to realestate.com.au which first reported the listing.
With an internal area of 280 square metres, the Charles Street home includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a garage and rooftop terrace with city skyline views.
Fixtures and fittings include a garage door from a Clovelly service station, railway ceiling lights from Carriageworks, doors from Bali and a steel staircase from a 1960s factory.
Mr Sparks’ family purchased the warehouse for $725,000 in 1994.
The couple is reported to have hosted a variety of Australian entertainers at the property including Simon Baker, Joel Edgerton, Asher Keddie, Tex Perkins and Noah Taylor. Karvan’s father, former Kings Cross nightclub owner Arthur, who now lives in Bali, is also reported to have stayed at the home.
The listing comes five years after Ms Karvan (pictured, top) sold a Bondi Beach apartment for $908,000 – a substantial rise on the $285,000 she outlaid in 1997, according to this item in propertyobserver.com.au.
Early last year the actress banked $1.15 million, according to dailymail.co.uk, selling a 46-hectare retreat, Itchenstoke, in Bilpin, about 100 kilometres west of Sydney, to a nearby neighbour.
