Brisbane City Council Approves More Major Projects

A 10-storey, 83-unit public housing block has also been approved for a site at 16 Church Street in Fortitude Valley, as part of the Federal Government’s initiative to substantially increase the number of commission flats around the country.

The Church Street project is being developed by the Brisbane Housing Corporation and the Queensland Housing Commission, and will also accommodate commercial tenant Red Cross Queensland.

Major projects to be shelved in Brisbane recently, according to the AFR, include the $1 billion Vision project on Mary Street, and the $600 million Empire Square project. In both cases, the developers faced financing difficulties.
