Boyd Baker House Bacchus Marsh Yours to Rent

The Boyd Baker House, in Bacchus Marsh, designed by renowned architect Robin Boyd for mathematician Michael Baker in 1964, is available for short rentals.

Like all Robin Boyd houses it is bold and unique, an environmentally sustainable development 40 years before the term was coined.

The living areas are built around a courtyard and 12 stone cylinders, each incorporating a water storage tank.

When it became clear that neither the State Government nor the University of Melbourne could buy the house last August, groups such as Heritage Victoria and the National Trust feared it could end up in the hands of a developer.

Instead, a property entrepreneur has restored and furnished the house for rental.

Be prepared to pay for the privilege however – weekend stays start at $1800, rising to $3000 for the week.
