Barristers’ Chambers sells CBD office

BCL paid its landlord $177 million for 200 Queen Street last year.

Barristers’ Chambers Limited has sold Douglas Menzies Chambers ahead of a move to 200 Queen Street.

Douglas Menzies Chambers was built on the site of the Four Courts Hotel.

The Victorian Bar subsidiary is banking $23 million for 180 William Street, developed in 1973, with 3,401 square metres over 12 floors, overlooking the Supreme Court of Victoria.

It paid $6m in 1992.

The Queens St replacement, for which it paid Charter Hall $177m last June, contains 19,736 sqm over 34 levels; part of which was tenanted to BCL.

A 10 level, 500-bay car park also formed part of that deal.

Colliers’ Matt Stagg, Nick Garoni and Yvonne Zhou marketed 180 William St, on the south east corner of Little Bourke.

The incoming owner is an as yet undisclosed owner occupier.

BCL retains other city buildings including Owen Dixon Chambers East and West.

More to come.
