Apartments Planned For Former Hedley Sutton Retirement Home, Canterbury, Melbourne

The Rothelowman designed project will include 23 townhouses, and 38 apartments within three and four-storey buildings at the north-eastern corner of Gascoyne Street and Canterbury Road – and near the suburb border of Camberwell and Hawthorn East.

EG picked up the 8,161 square metre site a year ago, and at a particularly depressed time in the local real estate market, for what was considered a bargain price of $12.525 million.

The vendor, Baptcare, relocated 93 residents to a new Hedley Sutton facility within the walls of Canterbury’s historic Linda mansion – built by James McEwan, of the now defunct McEwan Hardware group.
