Melbourne’s ex-Autodesk HQ sold

Autodesk owner occupied the Kilsyth South property 42 years.

Occupiers have traded a sprawling office in Melbourne’s outer east.

The Y-shaped building on 2.78 hectares at 259-261 Colchester Road, Kilsyth South, collected $13.5 million.

For 42 years home to Autodesk, which recently consolidated its local headquarters to Collins Street in the city, it contains 1922 square metres of renovated office space and a warehouse.

The land is zoned Industrial 1 beside an established business park (257 Colchester Rd) with strata titled units,

BPH is the buyer.

259-261 Colchester Road

About 300 metres from major Canterbury Road, 259-261 Colchester Rd was marketed for its development upside; two hectares can be built on immediately, Colliers’ Richard Wilkinson and Jonathan Mercuri, said.

Across two titles, it is also exposed to the street about 93 metres, they added (continues below).

Wes Maas recently bought a major Boronia gym as a tactical play.

“Sold with vacant possession, the purchaser plans to further develop the…site to support ongoing operational growth, reinforcing the continued shift towards owner-occupiers securing land for long-term use amid constrained supply,” according to the executives.

Kilsyth South is 32 kilometres from town.

“The property benefits from outstanding connectivity to major arterial networks including Dorset Road, Mountain Highway and Eastlink, making it a highly logical move for an expanding operation looking to future-proof their supply chain,” Mr Mercuri said.

Also this week we reported ex-NRL player turned developer Wes Maas, who recently bought into the Derrimut 24:7 gym chain, acquired a major asset at nearby Boronia leased to a rival (Genesis).

That asset – with a 3300 sqm improvement on 1.47ha – cost c$15m.
