Victorian Minister Justin Madden Facing Second Vote of no Confidence in a Year
The Labor Party’s proposal would serve to “prove” the government listened to voters, by knocking back the plan after previously approving it, and then releasing it for public comment.
The accidentally leaked email also suggested Mr Madden boost his profile in Essendon, where he lives, using the Essendon Football Club, where he began his AFL career.
“If Essendon falls through, Minister will go to an oldies home with a young person….” the email, mistakenly sent to the ABC, said.
Opposition leader Ted Baillieu told the Herald Sun the email is “a clear attempt to manipulate the planning process.”
Premier John Brumby failed to sack Madden, who blamed media staffer Peta Duke for concocting the email.
The ALP has not fired the well respected media adviser, who was only recently appointed to replace Mr Madden’s former spokeswoman.
There are “fears that some of the major planning decisions in recent years by Mr Madden may now be open to legal challenge,” the Herald Sun reports.
