Skateboard Champion Stephen Hill Sells Nobby Beach Mansion to Bruce Mathieson For $18 Million

The six-bedroom, six-bathroom home at 1 Albatross Avenue sits on a 1,395 square metre block, and has 32 metres of absolute beach frontage.

The award winning home was built by Melbourne-based skateboard champion and co-founder of streetwear empire Globe International. Mr Hill and wife Sonya smashed the record price for a home in the area in 2006 when they paid $20 million for the then ramshackle home. It is reported they spent another $10 million building the new home, and were seeking about $33 million from the sale.

The house was named home of the year in the Gold Coast Regional Architecture Awards last week.

Mr Mathieson already owns a home at 159 Hedges Road, nearby, which he bought in 2003 for $7 million, after selling a waterfront mansion on Cronin Island for $2.1 million.

Mr Mathieson listed his Sandown Street Brighton home on the market for sale in about 2007 for an estimated $10 million, but the property was withdrawn from sale.

Mr Hill said in a statement the buyer of his home and the price were “a private matter”.
