Six years after it hit the market – and following a discount speculated to be about $5 million – tennis ace Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, former actress, Bec Cartwright, appear to have found a buyer for their vacant St Kilda Road penthouse.
The opulently appointed six-bedroom pad, spreading the 19th and 20th level of the distinctive Yve complex at 576-578 St Kilda Road, was asking about $10 million when it hit the market in June with a new selling agency.
Hewitt had offered the apartment on and off before then: in 2011 it carried price hopes of approximately $15 million. The value was adjusted the following year and over subsequent years with reports it was seeking $12 million then $10 million.
In 2015 it was on the market seeking “offers of around $9 million”.
Hewitt outlaid $8.4 million “off-the-plan” for the dwelling in 2004 (it was originally two apartments which the tennis star redesigned to be one) then reportedly spent four years fitting it out. It is understood Hewitt bumped up the asking price this year after investing in an expensive re-modelling.
The tennis star and Bec, with their young children, have recently relocated to a new Melbourne house in Heyington Place, Toorak, which they bought off-the-plan for $12.7 million from prestige builder Peter Johnston.
